Privacy Policy & Affiliate Disclosure

Site PolicyUpdated June 11, 2026

TrainACat.us is an educational site about reward-based cat training. We keep data collection to a minimum. This page explains what little we collect, how the free tracker works, and how we’re funded — including our participation in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program.

Affiliate disclosure (Amazon Associates)

TrainACat.us is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

In plain wordsAs an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click a “Check price on Amazon” link in one of our “Recommended gear” boxes and buy something, Amazon pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra and never changes the price you pay.

Affiliate links never influence our editorial advice: every product we mention is gear commonly recommended by trainers and cat owners, and the training methods in our guides work with any equivalent equipment. Pages containing affiliate links carry a visible disclosure next to the links.

What data we collect

We do not require accounts, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or any personal details to read our guides or use the tracker.

  • Cat Training Tracker: your cats and progress checkmarks are stored in your own browser using localStorage. That data never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data erases it.
  • Server logs: like virtually all websites, our web server records standard technical logs (IP address, user agent, requested page, timestamp) for security and troubleshooting. Logs are rotated and not used to identify individuals.

Advertising & cookies

This site may display advertising served by third-party networks (such as Google AdSense). Third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or Google’s Ads Settings.

When you click an Amazon affiliate link, Amazon may set cookies on its own domain to attribute your purchase. Those cookies are governed by Amazon’s privacy notice, not ours.

Our guides link to authoritative sources such as the ASPCA, the Cornell Feline Health Center and the AVMA, and to products on Amazon.com. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from them.
